About Stallion Season Exchange
Establishing a legacy of Thoroughbred stewardship for future generations
Our mission is to create a healthy, sustainable future for all Thoroughbreds
Stallion Season Exchange is making this future possible with a first-of-its-kind program for the industry’s leading for-profit and non-profit entities to deliver positive change for Thoroughbred care and generate profit for shareholders.
Stallion Season Exchange has developed a cooperative marketing and public relations initiative highlighting stallion farms and breeders as pioneers of Beforecare™ and leaders in Thoroughbred Aftercare organizations like Old Friends Equine.
Participants who contribute a small percentage of annual breeding transactions will be featured as part of this initiative, the benefits of which will greatly outweigh these contributions, elevating participants as leaders in Beforecare™ and enhancing existing Aftercare operations like Old Friends Equine.
The Corporation for Beforecare™
Our transformative Beforecare™ approach plans for a Thoroughbred’s retirement from the moment foals stand and nurse, fostering a sustainable population and offering positive stories for the industry that a comprehensive marketing and public relations campaign will highlight.
Stallion Season Exchange operates in accordance with principles that align with Benefit Corporation (B Corp) certification, which requires high social impact and transparency standards.
By joining, participants actively contribute to a brighter future for their organization and the entire Thoroughbred industry.
Old Friends Equine
Old Friends Equine provides a dignified retirement to Thoroughbreds whose racing and breeding careers have come to an end.
As the “living-history museum” of horse racing, Old Friends attracts nearly 15,000 visitors annually. Visitors come to get up-close-and-personal with racing’s superstars, and also meet a few who never saw the inside of a winner’s circle.
Based in Georgetown, Kentucky, Old Friends maintains a 236-acre farm, three satellite locations, and a herd of over 255 retired former racehorses and breeding stallions.
By promoting these once-celebrated horses through a campaign of education and tourism, Old Friends raises awareness of the importance of equine aftercare.
